Helsinki City Hall / Helsinki City Reception

Helsinki City Hall is designed by the famous Finnish architect Carl Ludvig Engel Originally it served as a hotel (Hotelli Seurahuone) and was an important meeting place for scholars, politicians and merchants. The City of Helsinki bought the building in 1901 and it nowadays hosts office space for the mayor and deputy mayors and meeting facilities for the city council and city board. 

 

 

University Main Building / ECR Reception

Invitation: This reception is in the honour of the Early Career Researchers and their supervisors in an effort to encourage informal communication about career options and future development. The ESERA Board and the Local Organizing Committee would cordially like to extend an invitation to all delegates to this Reception.

 

The main building of the University of Helsinki is designed by the famous Finnish architect Carl Ludvig EngelThis empire style building is located at the Senate Square and it has served as the administrative and ceremonial centre of the University of Helsinki. The most important academic ceremonies, such as the opening of the academic term and master and doctoral promotions are organized in this building. The building was badly damaged during World War II but has since been rebuilt and renovated.

 

Finlandia Hall / Gala Dinner

Finlandia Hall is one of the most iconic buildings designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.  Its combination of an all-embracing aesthetic vision, distinctive atmosphere, and functionality is unique. Tens of thousands of people from around the world visit the site every year. Finlandia Hall has extensive experience as the venue for numerous conferences, ranging from popular music concerts to hard line political summits.

Finlandia Hall will arrange ESERA conference dinner participants a specially tailored 30-minute guided tour around the building before the cocktails and dinner.
